Accessibility at MakerKids

Safe and Accessible programming is a top priority for MakerKids. Our goal is to deliver fun and educational programming that meets the needs of students of all abilities. Read more below about our accessibility measures.

Our Leaside Maker Space is 100% step free accessible and features wheelchair accessible learning spaces and washroom.

MakerKids also offers Virtual Programs for students who may be outside our geographic area or prefer learning from the comfort of home.

MakerKids has partnered with Autism Canada to provide staff with comprehensive inclusivity and accessibility training for autistic and neurodiverse students. Our Management team works hard to maintain a safe sensory environment for students.

  • We use exclusively LED lighting and never noisy fluorescent lights. Our lighting is also adjustable and can be turned on and off as needed.
  • Some spaces use noise dampening panels to reduce echo and ear muffs are also available as needed.
    • Quiet areas are available at all locations.
    • Air Purifiers are used in some spaces to reduce odors and improve air quality. These can be turned down or off completely as needed.
  • Fidget toys are plenty in our spaces- we even have classes where we teach students how to 3D print their own articulated toys!
  • Private and Semi Private classes are available for students who prefer smaller groups or need additional support.
