Advanced Robotics is designed for kids who already have experience coding and wiring Arduinos (microcontrollers). In this class, students will develop their own self-directed projects. Building off of core programming and electrical concepts established in our primary Robotics classes, students will create their own robotics projects, while learning new components and more complex programming. Emphasis is placed on teaching and encouraging kids to learn, research and problem solve under their own initiative with the assistance of MakerKids’ knowledgebase, mentors and other peers. Through collaboration, key 21st century skills and universally applicable soft skills will be integrated for successful learning and skills they can bring outside of class.
Along with our huge variety of electronic gadgets for kids to work with, kids will use industry-level Arduinos as our hardware and Ardublock for coding. Students may also choose to code in text based C to take advantage of libraries that support advanced components. Feel free to purchase additional supplies separately to continue their work at home.

21st Century Skills
Students are in charge of their own project, solve problems as well as create their own designs and beta test them. Combining on- and off-screen work, Advanced Robotics will advance skills in communication, leadership, design and critical thinking.

Does my child need experience coding or with Arduinos?
In Advanced Robotics, kids are required to have robotics experience or have taken a MakerKids Robotics program before.
Do we have to bring our own laptop and supplies?
We will provide all the materials needed for the program and activities, which include laptops, Arduinos, mics, wires and more. Kids are welcome to bring more robotics materials in the Advanced classes.
What will my kid make?
Kids will create robotic inventions using sound. Kids are in charge of their own projects, from start to finish, and can design their own creations. Some past robotics projections include: cat alarms, voice records and sound machines that can play a multitude of notes! There are no physical take-aways in the program, as materials are reused and re-purposed for future students. Kids will leave with a comprehensive understanding of robotics, design and electronics and the actual code used to program the Arduinos.
