MakerKids-Dallas

When you’re talking about STEM classes for kids, being in an area where STEM is booming is helpful. This allows kids to see that STEM is popular and that it is here to stay. It also shows them that there is a future in it for them if they choose to follow that path.

That’s certainly the case in Dallas. Dallas, Texas, is booming when it comes to STEM. This is why it’s important to get kids interested now so that they can have the skills needed to grow along with the demand.

The Popularity of STEM in Dallas

Dallas is ranked among the best U.S. cities for STEM, coming in at number 38 in the nation. It is also home to the two top STEM schools in the United States. This is important to note because children who are involved in STEM can also immerse themselves in the topic right where they live.

Many children may be encouraged to pursue a career in STEM and start by taking classes. With MakerKids classes, they will learn about coding and robotics and how to relate them to the real world. They will learn how to make projects that can help them down the road. This is important because kids will see that STEM is not just something they learn about in class or online. It’s a vital part of the world around them.

The MakerKids Difference

MakerKids offers so much for kids when it comes to STEM. Although we are located in Canada, we are reaching kids in Dallas and around the globe. This is because the quality of our classes is unmatched.

MakerKids is the first makerspace for kids in the world. Founded in 2010, we have gone on to pioneer the industry as we look for new and innovative ways to engage children in the world of STEM.

Children can sit inside their Dallas homes and log onto a variety of MakerKids virtual classes that focus on robotics, coding, and even Minecraft. No matter which they choose, a live instructor is leading the class.

At MakerKids, we also love that we can offer STEM classes to younger children. Not all STEM classes in Dallas can say that. We offer a MiniMakers class for children in grades 1-2. This lets them begin to explore at a young age. They get introduced to coding and robotics and can decide which one they’d like to pursue as they get older. Our other classes are grounded by age level for those in grades 3-8.

MakerKids also stands out for virtual STEM classes in Dallas because we offer a class that is dedicated to Minecraft. While some people believe this is just a game, we know it can be used as a tool to teach other STEM topics like coding and robotics.

Virtual Classes at MakerKids

All of our virtual classes are small with no more than five students per class. Whether it’s coding, robotics, or Minecraft, kids have enough time to ask questions and get the help they need. This is important in all settings, but especially in a virtual one because kids are not in person to see their instructor.

Our instructors are not only highly educated and experienced in their field, but they have all gone through an extensive background check. We like parents to feel confident that their child is being taught by the best in the business. Whether it’s coding, robotics, or Minecraft, our MakerKids instructors are ready to propel your children into the exciting world of STEM where the sky’s the limit.

While learning STEM skills, kids also learn other skills they will use throughout their lives. Confidence, communication, and teamwork are all valuable life skills kids will develop through their MakerKids classes.

No matter what type of class your child is taking, you’ll find that our online classes at MakerKids are reasonably priced. We also offer classes year-round, not just camps because we know that STEM learning happens year-round.

Let’s take a closer look at the classes offered at MakerKids:

Coding

Our coding classes teach the basics of coding as well as advanced topics. Kids learn things like animation, character development, and level design.

Robotics

In our robotics classes, kids learn how to make their own electronic creations. Their ideas come to life as they learn how to wire up circuits, make virtual lights light up, and code a virtual “robot brain”. It’s amazing that all of this can be done from their homes.

Minecraft

Our Minecraft class is truly unique as it shows that Minecraft is more than a videogame. By using Minecraft as a learning tool, kids learn to grasp STEM topics like robotics and coding. Many of them never realized how much STEM was a part of this popular game until they started taking our class.

Mini-Makers

Thanks to our Mini-Makers classes, children in grades 1-2 can get their feet wet when it comes to STEM. They are introduced to robotics and coding and learn to design their own video games, make robots, and try other experiments.

Birthday Parties, Camps, and More!

Virtual Birthday Parties

Our virtual birthday parties were named one of 10 awesome birthday places by “Today’s Parent”. They are jam-packed with fun and excitement!

During our virtual parties, children get to do all of the activities they would if the party was in person, they’re just doing it from their homes.

This is how it works:

You choose the topic; robotics, coding, or Minecraft. We develop an age-appropriate activity based on your guests. Our instructors will guide the children through the activity and even take a break to play games.

Don’t forget the cake and presents! Our virtual parties allot time for that as well. Our typical birthday party lasts two hours, or you can customize your own.

Camps

Kids don’t have to travel far to go to camp. With our virtual camps, kids can do it all from their homes in Dallas. You don’t have to worry about rushing around to get them to camp on time because your kids are doing it right from home. They’ll never be late and won’t miss a thing!  During our camps, we use many of the techniques and strategies taught in our virtual classes.
