With the New Year comes the process of making resolutions and setting new goals. Adults are known to do these things, but it doesn’t have to be limited to the grown-up crowd. Kids can get in on the action too. We’re not just talking about keeping their room cleaner!

Kids can take on the New Year with the idea of trying new things and excelling at them with your help. If your child has always wanted to try something new, like taking a coding class, help to make that happen for them. Perhaps your child has the entrepreneur bug and has an idea for a great electronic invention. Feed that idea with classes that will help make that dream a reality.

If your child is into video games, like Minecraft, he or she can even learn the ins and outs of the game and how to make it even more awesome. The possibilities are endless.

Here’s how to start…

Sit down with your child and ask them what types of things they want to learn in the New Year. Besides learning new skills, maybe they want to improve upon a project to make it a blockbuster. Whatever it is, have them write it down.

Next, ask them how they think they can achieve this goal. Is there something you can do to help? Talk about it together and devise a plan.

After that, begin looking into classes and extra-curricular programs that can help your child work on their idea. If that idea has to do with coding, STEM projects, or Minecraft, look into the weekly programs MakerKids offers.

At MakerKids we offer weekly programs that teach everything from how to develop your own video game, to building electronic inventions and diving deeper into the Minecraft phenomenon. Our classes begin with first and second graders and go all the way up to eighth graders.

If you start your child young, they can continue their MakerKids classes as they grow and develop their projects. But, it’s also never too late to start. Some kids develop an interest in the STEM field later and need the encouragement and support to make their dreams happen. MakerKids can give them that!

If you’re looking to help your kids set New Year’s goals to get them on the STEM track, let MakerKids help. We offer a variety of programs your child can try. Call us today at 1-844-MAKERKIDS to find out about the different opportunities we offer.
