Mondays 4:30-6:30PM – Advanced Minecraft Class (upstairs)
You’ve mastered Minecraft – you build like a youtuber. You may even know how to install mods and program redstone and command blocks. In this class, you’ll learn how to make your own mods and program them! We’ll start off with MCreator to create our own objects complete with their own materials and recipes. Next, we’ll delve into programming with Scriptcraft – a full featured javascript engine for Minecraft. We’ll use it to create quests, and automatic interaction with NPCs and objects.
Here’s a video of a MakerKid demonstrating their dark matter explosives mod he made at our summer Minecraft camp: http://youtu.be/4ms1Nvsn_nc
Mondays 4:30-6:30PM – Arduino Robotics Class (downstairs)
At our Robotics class, kids will come up with an idea and make it happen! Some previous projects include a remote controlled shoe, an automatic clothes heater, battle bots and a remote controlled airplane. They can learn about electronics, soldering, how to wire up LED lights and even using Arduino (a micro controller and open source software).
Tuesdays 4:30-7:30PM – Minecraft Drop-in (upstairs)
At our Minecraft drop-in, kids can play Minecraft and explore how to create skins, install mods, learn about adventure maps, and even set up a server or connect to existing servers so you can play in multi-player with everyone there. Kids and teens can also experiment with converting Minecraft objects to 3D models, and then testing out printing on our 3D printer.
Tuesdays 4:30-7:30PM – Open Make (downstairs)
Are your kids into Do-It-Yourself, crafts, tinkering, woodworking, electronics, or interested in learning about 3D modelling and 3D printing, toy hacking or making other stuff? Perhaps they like taking things like small electronics apart to learn how they work?
This open shop is great for beginners, as no prior knowledge or experience is necessary, our instructors and mentors will teach them what they need to know! If they already have some experience with different materials and tools, they can learn how to build more advanced projects.
Starting at 4:30 pm and going until 7:30 pm every Tuesday, our doors are open and our staff will be on hand to help you with everything from woodworking to electronics. You can use our tools and expertise to start creating your next project.
Wednesdays 5-7PM – Digital Design – 3D Printing and Laser Cutting (upstairs)
Do you like lasers? So do we! Be one of the first to get to try our *brand new* lasercutter. What is a lasercutter, you ask? Good question! With a lasercutter, you can cut any flat materials to your heart’s desire. Plywood, fabric, plastic, and more. Make stickers, magnets, jewellery, and more! In our lasercutting class you’ll learn how to bring your designs to life quickly with lasercutting: first we’ll make 2D designs on the computer, and then minutes later you’ll be able to hold them in your hand after using the lasercutting machine to make them. Lasercutting is used by many entrepreneurs to quickly make products that they can sell. You will also get to learn 3D printing.
Wednesdays 5-7PM – Snow Machines (downstairs)
Get ready for winter by making your own snow machine! Whether it’s for clearing snow, for taking you down the hill, blowing snow, walking on snow, or for hurling snowballs, you will come up with the concept and build it! Learn woodworking, electronics, lasercutting and more. At the end of this 10 week program, we’ll schedule a snow race down a local hill. Robot Snow Shovel:https://vine.co/v/M0OiMhwXAbw
Thursdays 5-6:30PM – Video Game Programming (upstairs)
The game Flappy Bird was created in 3 days, and was so popular it was installed on tens of millions of devices. We have a whole 10 weeks to create our games, so just imagine what we will create! At our 10 week program, kids will learn how to create a video game using Scratch, a free educational programming platform created by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). They’ll also learn core programming concepts like Variables, Conditionals, Sequences, Loops, & Bug Fixing while having fun and programming their very own video game!
Thursdays 5-7PM – Kickstarter Part 1 (downstairs)
You’ve been to MakerKids before, or you make things at home, and you’re ready for the next level. In this 2 part program, you will design, build and kickstart a product for sale! Add entrepreneurship to your invention, and see where it can take you.
We also have a new awesome tool – a Laser Cutter from Universal Laser Systems! Learn to use it to make slick and professional custom casings and other parts for your creation.
The theme of our products will be the Internet of Things! We have sample code prepared that you can use to build a smart objects that communicate with each other, with web browsers, and with Minecraft. Imagine building a “Minecraft Doorbell” that sits on your desk, and rings whenever someone rings your doorbell within your online world. Imagine building a “BFF Compass” that always points towards your best friend’s compass. Imagine building a networked motion detector that sends you a message whenever someone enters your room. These are just some possibilities, we’ll help you come up with your own idea!
Sign up for Kickstarter Part 1, and over the course of 10 weeks, you will design and build your prototype. We’ll help you make sure your product is awesome – either interesting, useful or both. Test your prototype with others, make changes and maximize its appeal.
Kickstarter Part 2 will be offered as a separate 10 week program in our winter session. Sign up for Part 2 to bring your product to market! We’ll help you make a plan for making more of your product, and run a Kickstarter campaign together to sell it together. If we get more orders than we can handle making ourselves, we’ll have a Kickstarter Part 3 where we will get the products manufactured!
Note: You don’t have to sign up for part 2 and 3 if you don’t want to. Kickstarter Part 2 and 3 will only be offered if there are enough sign-ups with marketable products.
Thursdays 5-7PM – Advanced Arduino Robotics – the Internet of Things (downstairs)
You’ve made something simple with Arduino – maybe you’ve just done the “blink” sketch. Now you’re ready for something more! Sign up for this program, and we’ll take your robotic creations online to participate in the Internet of Things!

This class is also concurrent with Kickstarter Part 1. If you decide that you would like to sell your finished robot, you can sign up for Kickstarter Part 2 in the winter programs.
Fridays 9AM-3:30PM – Maker Day (upstairs and downstairs)
On Fridays our shop will be open for homeschoolers and more to come and make to your heart’s delight with the help of our mentors!
Fridays 4:30-6:30PM – League of Legends eSports Club (upstairs)
Take your League of Legends game up a notch! We’ll put you in a team with 4 other players and you’ll learn the skills to take you from Bronze to Gold! If you’re new to the game, we’ll help you choose from over a hundred characters to master and the dozens of items to choose from. Next, you’ll learn how to use your characters skills to work with your team to defeat your enemies!
Participants in this program will hone their computer skills – you have to be quick with your mouse to succeed! The most important things to learn however will be cooperation, strategic thinking, and good sportsmanship. Since this is a team game, you have to work together and encourage each other.
Every 10 weeks we will culminate with an in house tournament for all the teams! We’ll have prizes not just for the winners, but for the most improved team, most impressive in game moment, and more.
Fridays 4:30-6:30PM – Inventions (downstairs)
At our Inventions class, kids come up with an idea and make it happen! Some previous projects include a remote controlled shoe, an automatic clothes heater, a candy floss machine and a working bow and arrow. Your imagination is the limit!
“At first when I came here, I had no idea how any of this electric stuff worked, and I’m just like, how I am going to be able to make this? But over time with my mistakes, I realized it gets easier and it comes to me and sometimes making a mistake actually teaches
Combine your child’s creativity with your capability! You and your child aged 3 to 7 will be equal partners designing an awesome project. Then you will build it together according to your abilities and attention spans. Imagine making your own custom dragon balance bike, or a child sized play kitchen stove with light up LED burners, or even a custom parent-child halloween costume.
Use our 3D printers and laser cutter and learn Arduino robotics. A materials budget is included in the registration cost per team, and we have a wide selection of electronics, mechanical parts and craft supplies. Our mentors will help you with whatever tools, materials and skills you need to get it done!
The downstairs shop will be set up for making and building. At younger ages, kids attention spans are shorter, and cannot always be expected to work on the same project for a full 2 hour session. So the upstairs shop will be set up as a separate supervised creative play and making area that the kids can use when they’re engaged with working on the project. There they will play with the Littlebits electronics education set, lego, 3D creature design and printing, and assorted arts and crafts projects.

Saturdays 3-4:30PM – MakerHeroes SuperGroup (downstairs)
This superhero-themed ‘playshop’ is great for any kids who could use a little more ‘super’ in their lives. Did you know that closer association with and exposure to superheroes can help boost kids’ self-esteem? Superheroes are makers too! Many superheroes make their own costumes and technologies – and it’s no surprise since making makes us all feel better. Making has been shown to help people feel like they have more control over the world, express themselves, and develop more self-confidence.
A supergroup is a band of superheroes who are more powerful when banded together than when apart. In our Makerheroes Supergroup, we will use superhero-related activities to explore participants’ super powers (strengths) and how they can use them in combination with allies, hideouts, costumes, technologies and more to be the best they can be despite the kryptonite (fears / challenges / exceptionalities) that all superheroes face.
