Kids will learn everything they need to know to code their very own game: character development, storyboarding, animation, environment and level design, beta testing and, of course, coding.

We leverage kids’ interest in Minecraft as a gateway to introduce them to other STEM topics such as Robotics and Coding. Minecraft is also a great medium for teaching positive netizen skills and communication skills.

Kids use online robotics simulator technology to learn how to make electronic creations that they previously only dreamed of. Wire up circuits, make virtual lights light up, design solutions to real-world problems, learn about a variety of electromagnetic concepts, and code a virtual ‘robot brain’ to make something awesome.

Grades 1-2
Mini Makers introduces kids in grades 1 and 2 to our core technology topics: Coding and Robotics. They will design their own video games, create robotic inventions, do design and experimentation, and more.

How MakerKids Stands Out in NYC
Not all STEM-related companies in NYC offer classes led by real humans! There are many that use websites and apps to teach kids the ins and outs of STEM. At MakerKids, we always have a live instructor ready to teach your children.
While some facilities focus on certain age groups, we include children in grades 1-8. We then separate them into age-appropriate groups so that children get the best experience. We believe that even the smallest children can benefit from STEM classes and shouldn’t have to wait until they get older to have the experience.

What can your child learn at MakerKids? More than you can imagine (and more than they can imagine too)!
We offer classes in three main areas for children in ages 6-13; robotics, coding, and Minecraft. Classes are broken down into different groups. Children in grades 3-5 learn together and those in 6-8 are together. Smaller children have their own mini-makers classes that are age-appropriate and full of useful information.
Our instructors work at the children’s level so that they don’t get overwhelmed. Classes are kept small with no more than five students. This allows for enough time for students to ask questions and get the help they need.
All of our instructors are properly trained and have gone through extensive background checks so you can always feel confident that your child is being taught by the best in the business. Whether it’s coding, robotics, or Minecraft, our MakerKids instructors are ready to propel your children into the exciting world of STEM where the sky’s the limit.
Coding
In our online coding classes, kids will learn everything they need to know to code their own game. Topics like animation, character development, level design, and beta testing are all taught.
Robotics
These classes are truly awesome as kids learn how to make their own electronic creations. Their ideas come to life as they learn how to wire up circuits, make virtual lights light up, and code a virtual “robot brain”.
Minecraft
If you thought Minecraft was just a videogame, our classes will make you think again! Through the use of Minecraft, kids learn STEM topics like robotics and coding. Many of them never realized how much STEM was a part of this popular game until they started taking our class.
Mini-Makers
Your child is never too young to start to learn about STEM. That’s why we offer our online Mini-Makers class for kids in grades 1-2. They get introduced to robotics and coding and learn to design their own video game, make robots, and try other experiments.
Birthday Parties, Camps, and More!
Virtual Birthday Parties
Besides our award-winning programs, we also offer virtual birthday parties and camps. Our birthday parties were named one of 10 awesome birthday places by “Today’s Parent”.
If you’re living in New York and can’t find a space to host your child’s next birthday party, try one of ours virtually! Children get to do all of the activities they would if the party was in person, they’re just doing it from their home.
You choose the topic; robotics, coding, or Minecraft. We develop an age-appropriate activity based on your guests. Our instructors will guide the children through the activity and even take a break to play games.
There’s also time allotted for virtual cake and presents. Kids can feel like they’re at an in-person birthday party when they’re in their own homes. Our typical birthday party lasts two hours, or you can customize your own.
Camps
If you’re in New York City but are looking for a camp outside the city limits, try one of our virtual camps. Your child can explore STEM topics right from home. We use many of the techniques and strategies taught in our classes. You can choose the schedule that best suits your needs. No matter which you choose, your child will get a STEM experience that’s like none other right from your home in New York.
