We’re really excited to announce that on Saturday, November 2nd, MakerKids will take part in Extra Life, playing games non-stop for 25 hours to raise money for Toronto’s SickKids Hospital! Our doors will be open from 9am-9pm Saturday, so drop by and join-in playing Minecraft on our private servers, or designing board games in our makerspace using our 3D Printer to print out game pieces, and much more!

As the date approaches we’ll announce more details about activities we’ll be doing throughout the day here, MakerKids on Facebook, or @maker_kids on Twitter!

How Can You Participate?

Make Space in Your Closets!

We need your old, missing-pieced, or broken games and toys! Drop them off at MakerKids anytime before Nov. 2nd, or bring them in to the event and make something new out of them! See our Contact page for information where to drop off your game donations.

Drop-In on Nov. 2nd!

Drop in between 9am-9pm on November 2nd and take part in games, and other fun activities. You will be able to donate on-site during the event.

So we can have an idea of how many people are coming, please pre-register (for free) here.

In order to make it all the way through the 25 hours, our team is going to need a ton of encouragement! Every dollar donated will fuel us through the event and goes to a great cause: SickKids Hospital. It’s really easy to do, and only takes a few minutes. On an Autumn Saturday each year since 2008, tens of thousands of gamers have joined together to save the lives of local kids in a celebration of gaming culture that we call Extra Life. From console games to tabletop RPG’s to even lawn sports, Extra Life gives people that love to play a chance to do what they love to save lives and make a difference… Since 2008, our incredible players have raised more than 4 million dollars, and this year, on November 2nd, 2013 we believe they will outdo themselves yet again.
