Thanks to all the generous donations at Marianne and my wedding, we now have a 3D printer! It’s a Replicator, from MakerBot. We visited with them down at the Detroit Maker Faire last weekend at the end of our honeymoon 🙂 It has two extruders, so we can print in two colours at the same time.
In honour of the upcoming Curiosity rover’s landing on Mars this weekend, we thought our first print should be a spaceship. Well, the very first one turned out to be a hairball…
After leveling the build platform more precisely, we had our first successful print! As you can see, we’re very excited!
We’re printing out a chunk of the martian surface now!
