It’s Halloween at MakerKids!
Halloween is just about here, and at MakerKids that means it’s time to get creative with your Halloween costume. Sure, you could go out and buy a costume at any store, but what fun is that? It’s more fun to make one, and why not choose one that has a “maker” theme or that’s STEM-inspired for a Halloween to remember?
If you’re looking for some ideas, here are some DIY costumes you can try!
Scientist
This is an easy DIY costume. You just need a lab coat, some test tubes, and some funky glasses to start off this costume. If you want to get fancy, you can also attach beakers or other science equipment to the lab coat. You can decide what type of scientist costume to make, whether it’s a scientist in the lab or perhaps an animal scientist. Whichever one you choose you can customize it so that your child can have the best costume.
Minecraft Character Costume
If you’re looking for a Minecraft DIY costume, there are some easy ideas floating around for a Minecraft Steve costume. Pinterest has some great ideas that don’t require a lot of items. For some of them, you only need a box and some construction to make the head and some everyday clothes for the rest of the costume. If you have the time and creativity, you can really get into character with these ideas!
Computer Costume
If you’re looking for a maker themed costume and your child is into coding, why not make a computer? After searching the web, we found that this is another easy-to-make costume with just a large paper box and some markers necessary. If you and your child want to get really creative, you can add more features or you could just keep it simple.
Smartphone
Looking for a great Halloween costume, yep, there’s an app for that! How about making a smartphone costume? You could use a large box or strong pieces of cardboard to make the screens. If your child likes to know about the inner workings of phones and apps, this could be the best costume ever!
